All I Want to Tell You About Dale Tate |
I was a professional horticulturist employed as the Director of the Parks and Recreation Department
for the City of El Paso.
I am now retired and spend my time as a recreation gardener at the Weldon Yerby Senior Citizen's
Community Gardens, located about 600 yards down an unimproved road
toward the Franklin Mountain from the intersection at 9175 Stahala and Gabriel
streets in El Paso Texas. You can normally find me there on Monday,
Wednesdays and Friday from about 8:00 A.M. to about 10:00 A.M.
I really don't have anything to sell or any real purpose
for this web site, other than sharing some information about tomatoes,
sweet corn, green beans, and the like. Maybe I just wanted a learning
experience.
I found free web site hosting at tripod.com – had the FrontPage editor on my computer
and people on the internet wanting to teach me how to use it so it seemed a
shame not to avail myself of the opportunity. A man by the name of Blaise
Pascal once said" I am because I think", so it is my purpose to
follow his teaching and be a part of these times in history.
At seventy- five years old, I still get a thrill by learning
something new each day. Sometimes I fail to do so but it is never
because I'm not trying.
Later on, perhaps, there may be something to sell on
this site. There seems to be a lack
of knowledge about where one can buy fresh garden produce. Consumers are persistent in
attempting to buy from my little recreation garden. Small market gardeners
are unable to finance a web site so it may be that I could be of service
to them and all together they could help me with the cost of hosting the site
on the web,
and then I may can have row covers and plastics, cut to size, for a mini hoop-houses that really makes
possible the growing of tomatoes in the Desert. Some of my associates tell me that it is unique.
My children are all grown with children of their own. My wife and I share
nine grandchildren, one home, two cars, and a garden. No dog, just some
tomato vines.
